The Jefferson Elks lodge will be the scene of a transplant this coming Saturday evening, Oct. 4. Friends and supporters of Karen Renslow hope to transplant support – both emotional and financial support – into Renslow, who faces a kidney transplant and loss of income while she recuperates.
Renslow has been diagnosed with Stage 4 medullary cystic kidney disease. Many years ago, she donated a kidney to her brother, who had the disease. She her lone kidney has now been struck by the disease, she is in need of a transplant herself. Click here for the rest of the story: GCNO archive
A spaghetti supper will be served from 5 to 7 pm, with free will donations accepted. There will be many items up for silent auction, including handmade oak furniture, crafts, an autographed Johnny “Hollywood” Case T-shirt and more. Visit the event Facebook page to see items. The silent raffle will end at 8 pm.
A raffle of a hog with processing and a 50-50 cash raffle will also conclude that evening.
Persons who want to support the effort but can’t attend the event can take a donation to the Jefferson, Scranton or Grand Junction branch of Peoples Trust & Savings Bank or mail it to Renslow at 204 N. Pinet, Jefferson, IA 50129.
